Reach Communications has a hybrid network that encompasses both a state of the art VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) network, as well as a traditional switched network to support carriers with legacy systems. For some time carriers believed that quality would suffer if they migrated over to a VoIP network, however Reach overcame these potential hurdles by developing proprietary software that monitors and routes voice traffic according to network availability. This ensures voice quality equivalent to that provided by a Tier 1 long-distance provider. Sometimes this means the software routes traffic to the least congested network. By setting thresholds customized for each client and destination, Reach Telecommunications has the ability to identify warning signs and prevent potential issues from escalating into business critical failures that reduce quality and completion.
In 1998 we had two separate networks. Our TDM network was mostly comprised of Alcatel switches, and our VoIP network was developed in-house with inexpensive Linux servers. In 2004 we partnered with MERA Systems, Inc., a recognized leader in carrier-grade VoIP solutions.
Today Mera Systems’ VoIP Transit Softswitches (MVTS) is at the heart of our network. These switches are the core of our network where all minutes eventually pass. To ensure accurate billing Reach utilizes EyeBill VoIP Billing Software which is an advanced application that enables large telecoms to provide flexible voice services. It integrates the core AAA functions authentication, authorization, and accounting with vital functions that facilitate the effective management of all billing-related processes. We kept our older Alcatel switches for TDM (tandem) connectivity, however we transport all our TDM voice traffic to our VoIP network. We utilize multiple Cisco AS5400 Universal Gateways which is a reliable, scalable voice gateway that minimizes delay and packet loss during voice encoding for our transporting needs.
VoIP is a still a new technology, and therefore a significant consolidation is going occurring with traditional carriers. New VoIP partnering options are emerging as the service provider market grows. Reach Communications strives to be the best provider for any enterprise or wholesale customer.
